Entry-exit rules on the exemption of visa - Applies to holders fo diplomatic, official and service passports. With effect from 15 October 2010 foreign nationals travelling to Azerbaijan may obtain entry visas upon arrival in the following cases: 1. Pursuant to provisions stipulated by relevant bilateral intergovernmental treaties with the Republic of Azerbaijan; 2. Upon official invitation of the President, Prime Minister, Speaker of Milli Majlis (Parliament), Head of Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Chairman of Ali Majlis (Supreme Assembly) of the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan; 3. Upon official invitation of the Chairmen of the Constitutional and Supreme Courts, Prosecutor General, Ombudsman, Chairman of the Central Election Commission, heads of ministries and state committees of the Republic of Azerbaijan; 4. Staff of diplomatic missions, consulates and international organizations accredited in the Republic of Azerbaijan and their family members, as well as foreign nationals travelling to Azerbaijan with a special diplomatic mission; 5. Foreign nationals travelling to Azerbaijan to deal with consequences of emergencies upon official approval by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan; 6. In case of death of family members residing in the Republic of Azerbaijan (on the basis of death certificate). Types of visas Entry visas are issued on a single, double or multiple entry basis only. | - Single entry (validity from 3 to 90 days and issued within a period from 5 to 15 working days) | | | - Double entry (validity from 3 to 90 days and issued within a period from 5 to 15 working days) | | | - Multiple entry (validity up to 1 year and issued within a period from 5 to 15 working days) | |
Visa requirements - One visa application form (attachment 1) - Two recent passport size photograph (glued to application form) - Valid passport - Lettre of invitation or hotel booking confirmation (stamped and signed) - Copy of the main page - Proof of payment of visa fee (for bank details please visit "Consular fees" section) All the requests for any type of visa (except diplomatic and service), should be supported by the invitation of receiving party in Azerbaijan. -For business and humanitarian visas: an invitation from a receiving party or partner in Azerbaijan. -For tourist visas : a confirmation letter from a receiving tourist organization or a hotel in Azerbaijan. -For visitor visas : an invitation from the citizen of Azerbaijan, accompanied by a photocopy of his/her national identification card (Sample of the Letter of Invitation can be downloaded here). Tourist and transit visas are issued on a single or double entry basis only. Visa application by post
The Embassy accepts visa applications by post, provided that the applicant is unable to submit documents in person. However, the Embassy advises that postal applicants should use special mail services in sending their documents to the Consular Section. Applicants should also enclose a prepaid self-addressed special/registered delivery envelope or postal coupons (for Norway and Finland 10 coupons "union postal universelle" for 1 passport) for their passports to be returned. Postal applicants should make payment of consular fees by cheques or payment orders payable to " Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan". When the documents are returned by the Embassy through special/registered delivery the appropriate Post Office receipts are held by the Consular Section for the period of two weeks. The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan does not take any responsibility for lost or stolen passports. However, should any documents be reported lost, the Embassy shall provide assistance in tracing them by furnishing relevant details and Post Office receipts to the owners of the documents in question. Please note that travel document holders are required to submit their applications in person. Payment of consular fees
Payment of consular fees should be made through any branch of the Skandinavska Enskilda Banken (SEB). Confirmation of payment should be submitted to the Embassy.
The bank account number is as follows: 5277 10 20 955. Please note that the Embassy does not accept cash or credit/debit card payments. Extension of visa Foreign nationals have to leave Azerbaijan within 48 hours from the expiry date of the visa or extend the visa before it expires at the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Address: 4 Shikhali Gurbanov Street, Baku AZ 1009, Republic of Azerbaijan, tel: + 994 12 4929692). If foreign nationals fail to extend their visas before expiry date, they will be liable to a fine from US$20 to 30. It is not possible to renew a visa after it has expired. Long-term stay and registration Foreign nationals intending to stay in Azerbaijan for a period exceeding 30 days have to register with the nearest police station within three days upon arrival. The registration fee is US$10 and the following documents should be submitted: - Valid passport of a foreign national - Valid visa - Proof of address or a tenancy agreement, or a letter from the landlord After the registration foreign nationals are issued with a registration note or card allowing them to stay in the country. Foreign nationals residing in the capital city are issued with a registration note rather than registration card, given by Baku Head Police Department. Foreign nationals that stay in other districts of Azerbaijan (i.e. other than Baku) obtain their registration from Passport Registration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan in person prior to their departure from the capital city. They will also be charged an additional fine of US$ 50 for each month they overstay. New rules of issuing visas to citizens of states - participants of ”Eurovision - 2012” song contest and stateless persons, permanently residing in those states, intending to travel to the Republic of Azerbaijan in connection with the song contest In accordance with the Decree of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 10 February 2012 ”On the facilitation of visa procedures for foreigners and stateless persons, travelling to the Republic of Azerbaijan in connection with ”Eurovision – 2012” song contest to be held in Baku.”: The citiens of the states – participants of ”Eurovision - 2012” song contest and stateless persons, permanently residing in those states, who intend to travel to the Republic of Azerbaijan in connection with the contest, can obtain their visas at the section of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan at the international airports of the Republic of Azerbaijan. One of the following documents is considered to be the basis for issuing visa: 1. An official invitation letter issued by the Organizing Committee of ”Eurovision – 2012” song contest; 2. A document, confirming the accreditation in accordance with the relevant rules of the European Broadcasting Union; 3. A ticket or a document, confirming acquistion of the ticket for concerts of ”Eurovision – 2012” song contest. The above – mentioned persons can apply in the following period of time to obtain their visas: 1. The persons travelling in accordance with the official invitation letter issued by the Organizing Committee of ”Eurovision – 2012” song contest, as well as the participants and members of delegations accredited in accordance with the relevant rules of the European Broadcasting Union – from April 15 until June 1, 2012; 2. Journalists and members of the fan club, accredited in accordance with the relevant rules of the European Broadcasting Union, as well as the persons, who obtained ticket for the concerts of ”Eurovision – 2012” song contest – from May 10 until June 1, 2012. Note: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan informed the diplomatic representations and consulates of the Republic of Azerbaijan abroad of the new rules on facilitation of visa procedures for persons coming to Azerbaijan in connection with ”Eurovision – 2012” internation song contest.
